About The Program:

Join host Gary Bredow as he travels around the country interviewing over 26 small business owners to hear their personal stories and find out what it really takes to start a successful business from the ground up. This 13-part series offers viewers an up-close and personal look at the world of the modern American entrepreneur. As complicated as starting a business may seem, the program attempts to demystify the process by sharing the real life experiences of average Americans who are taking control of their own destiny while creating jobs for others.

Episode 1: Market Climbing | Sun, Sept. 17 @ 1pm (repeats 9/20 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew head to New Orleans, Louisiana to talk with Burnell Cotlon, owner of Lower 9th Ward Market, a convenience store, barber shop, and laundromat that's saving the community. Then they head to Flagstaff, Arizona to talk with Paul Kent, creator of Flagstaff extreme, a tree top adventure course.

Episode 2: Chillin' with Goats | Sun, Sept. 24 @ 1pm (repeats 9/27 @ 6am)

Gary and the crew head to Austin, TX to talk with Jae Kim, owner of Chi'Lantro, a Korean BBQ inspired food truck and catering company. Then they head over to Gilbert, Arizona to meet with Sarah Williams and April Gould, co-founders of Goat Yoga, the first ever interactive yoga with trained goats.

Episode 3: Barn To Be Wild| Sun, Oct. 1 @ 1pm (repeats 10/4 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew head to Phoenix, Arizona to meet with Thomas Porter, owner of Porter Barn Wood, Arizona's number one resource for reclaimed lumber. Then they head over to Houston, Texas to meet with Nicole Buergers, the founder of Bee2Bee Honey Collective, a honeybee farm that provides local honey and bee keeping services.

Episode 4: Knock To Come Inn | Sun, Oct. 8 @ 1pm (repeats 10/11 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew head to St. Louis, Mississippi to meet with Nikki Moon, owner of Bay Town Inn, a luxurious bed and breakfast right in the heart of Bay St. Louis. Then they head over to Houston, Texas to meet with Ohad Nezer and Jake Boshernitzan, owner of Knocki, a tech hardware company that gives you instant control of your favorite functions from any surface.

Episode 5: Virtual Toys | Sun, Oct. 15 @ 1pm (repeats 10/18 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew travel to Boston to talk to Tracey & Danielle, the creators of Wicked Good Cupcakes, a cupcake shop that creates cupcakes from scratch & distributes their ingredients in jars to customers all over the country. Then they swing over the New Hampshire to talk to Christa, the owner of The Place Studio Gallery, a fun and creative studio that teaches a variety of art courses.

Episode 6: The Concrete that Broke the Camel’s Back | Sun, Oct. 22 @ 1pm (repeats 10/25 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew head to Las Vegas, Nevada to meet with Guy Seeklus, owner of Camel Safari, a premier camel ride and Segway tour experience. Then they head over to Phoenix, Arizona to meet with Brandon Boetto, owner of SlabHaus, a business specializing in high-end concrete home furnishings.

Episode 7: A Bearded Delight | Sun, Oct. 29 @ 1pm (repeats 11/1 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew head to Austin, Texas to meet with Jeremiah Newton, owner of The Bearded Bastard, a legendary beard grooming products made by hand. Then they head over to Detroit, Michigan to meet with Amina Daniels, owner of Live Cycle Delight, Live Cycle Delight is the first contemporary cycle studio to offer cycling classes, a bike lounge, and a cold-pressed juice bar.

Episode 8: FINN-ish your Beer | Sun, Nov. 5 @ 1pm (repeats 11/8 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew visit Vermont to talk to Ben and Jeff, co-owners of MusicStoreLive, a booming website that aims to combine the local guitar shop feel with the online shopping convenience. Learn how customers can buy and trade a variety of guitars and gear. Then they head over to Massachusetts to chat with Michelle, the owner of LoveTheCool, a digital media agency that serves clients such as CVS, Vogue, and Instacart.

Episode 9: The Athletic Broad | Sun, Nov. 12 @ 1pm (repeats 11/15 @ 6am)
Gary and the crew head to Las Vegas, Nevada to meet with Cathy Brooks, owner of Hydrant Club, a dog boarding and training facility in Downtown Las Vegas. Then they head over to Grand Rapids, Michigan to meet with Sara Moylan, owner of Shefit, an athletic apparel company with the highest level of support.

Much like the individuals featured in Start Up, show creator and host Gary Bredow is himself an entrepreneur. While working at various corporate jobs after college, Gary always dreamed of owning his own business. After years of hard work and dedication, he is now the co-owner of a production studio in Downtown Detroit that specializes in television, film and multi-media production. The idea for Start Up came as a way for Gary to "pay-it-forward" to people around the country that have also felt unfulfilled in their career and dreamt of someday being their own boss. Read more.
