Harvesting the Field
In the midst of the autumn harvest, we look back to "field" recordings from around the middle of the 20th century and earlier, in an attempt to harvest some of the most enduring vocal and instrumental performances by legendary and mostly non-professional sources of many of today's recording and performing repertoire.

Music of O'Carolan
Ireland's best-known classical harper, Turlough O'Carolan, lived from 1670 to 1738 and was blind for most of his adult life. His compositions survive today and continue to be recorded by not only harpers but by some of the leading bands in the Celtic music genre. We'll hear a number of O'Carolan tunes in this week's program.

16-50

12/15/16

Dynamic Duos
This week's albums feature duo performers from Ireland, Scotland, England, and North America.

16-51
