POSITION: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT AND
ALUMNI RELATIONS
(WSIU PUBLIC BROADCASTING)
DESCRIPTION:

WSIU Public Broadcasting and the Division of Development and Alumni Relations at Southern Illinois University Carbondale invite applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Development and Alumni Relations who will be responsible for developing and managing private fund-raising goals and objectives.  The Associate Director will lead the development efforts for WSIU Public Broadcasting, and will develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan, exercising discretion and independent judgment with regard to setting schedules, making appointments, designating assignments to subordinates, and determining strategies to meet overall goals of WSIU Public Broadcasting and the SIU Foundation.  The Associate Director will be responsible for identifying and cultivating major gift prospects, soliciting high-end gifts, and providing stewardship to supporters.  Travel and weekend work will be necessary to fulfill the tasks.  The successful candidate will be a member of the University development staff and will report to the Executive Director of WSIU Public Broadcasting and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree is required, with a minimum of three years of proven successful development experience including both personal solicitation and direct mail.  Supervisory experience required.  Effective communication skills (oral, listening and written) required.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree is preferred.  The successful candidate will possess proven leadership and organizational skills, experience with comprehensive campaigns, a strong record of success in raising significant major gifts; and the personal energy, enthusiasm and patience to develop a comprehensive development program that continually surpasses goals and overcomes obstacles.  Higher education advancement (development or alumni), healthcare, or arts organization experience preferred.
COMPENSATION: The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience; there is an excellent fringe benefits package.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Digital Media Production Specialist
DESCRIPTION:

The Digital Media Production Specialist assists the Associate Director in the general supervision and management of content creation for dissemination over the air and via the station's multi-media platforms. Specifically, the Specialist researches, writes, edits, and produces daily news stories, features, investigative reports, and public affairs content for local TV programs including; live broadcast, web based on-demand audio & video services, social media, pod-casting, mobile, and other new media services. The Digital Media Production Specialist is responsible for providing oversight and direct training and professional enrichment to student volunteers and student employees in the field of multi-media/broadcast journalism.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in broadcasting, journalism, electronic media, or related field; and four years of progressively responsible experience producing and editing stories/programs across multi-media platforms for audio, video, and web. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of various editing software/systems; digital media gear for both audio and video; and proven use of production related broadcast television equipment. Excellent communication skills as demonstrated by writing samples and multi-media samples.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated successful experience with personnel supervision and evaluation including students and volunteers.

POSITION: Production Specialist (Production)
DESCRIPTION:

Serves as a television/multi-media producer, director and studio specialist. This position formulates Program ideas, produces and directs television programs. Coordinates studio activities and productions. Operates complex audio, video, studio and related television equipment. This person works independently to create program materials that meet the diverse needs of the region, while reflecting on the image and reputation of both WSIU and Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree in Radio/Television or related field. Four years of progressively responsible experience in all of the following areas: Producing and directing programs for television; effective use of non-linear editing software (Final Cut Pro or Avid); lighting, cameras, and audio for both studio and field productions; production related broadcast television equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated successful experience with personnel supervision and evaluation including students and volunteers.
