POSITION: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT AND
ALUMNI RELATIONS
(WSIU PUBLIC BROADCASTING)
DESCRIPTION:

WSIU Public Broadcasting and the Division of Development and Alumni Relations at Southern Illinois University Carbondale invite applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Development and Alumni Relations who will be responsible for developing and managing private fund-raising goals and objectives.  The Associate Director will lead the development efforts for WSIU Public Broadcasting, and will develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan, exercising discretion and independent judgment with regard to setting schedules, making appointments, designating assignments to subordinates, and determining strategies to meet overall goals of WSIU Public Broadcasting and the SIU Foundation.  The Associate Director will be responsible for identifying and cultivating major gift prospects, soliciting high-end gifts, and providing stewardship to supporters.  Travel and weekend work will be necessary to fulfill the tasks.  The successful candidate will be a member of the University development staff and will report to the Executive Director of WSIU Public Broadcasting and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree is required, with a minimum of three years of proven successful development experience including both personal solicitation and direct mail.  Supervisory experience required.  Effective communication skills (oral, listening and written) required.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree is preferred.  The successful candidate will possess proven leadership and organizational skills, experience with comprehensive campaigns, a strong record of success in raising significant major gifts; and the personal energy, enthusiasm and patience to develop a comprehensive development program that continually surpasses goals and overcomes obstacles.  Higher education advancement (development or alumni), healthcare, or arts organization experience preferred.
COMPENSATION: The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience; there is an excellent fringe benefits package.
