Southern Illinois – Food and wine products from eight southern Illinois companies are on the menu for the 2009 Illinois Products Expo.
The expo introduces consumers to the variety of food that is made in the state. Agriculture Director Tom Jennings says ultimately, the department's goal is to build demand for these Illinois-made products and get grocery stores to stock them on their shelves.
The southern Illinois businesses expected to attend the expo include: Aunt Jenny's Fudge in De Soto...Country Bob in Centralia...Voss Pecans in Carlyle as well as five wineries such as Alto Vineyards in Alto Pass...Fox Creek Vineyards in Olney and Shawnee Winery in Vienna.
The 11th annual food and cooking Extravaganza will be held March 7th and 8th at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
