Springfield, IL – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn won't move the transportation department's traffic safety division from Springfield to southern Illinois.
Quinn says he doesn't believe moving jobs is a wise development move.
State Representative Brandon Phelps of Norris City says he's disappointed, but not surprised by the decision.
Phelps says while he would've loved to have gotten additional jobs for his district, he was not in favor of Springfield losing jobs.
In a written statement, Harrisburg Mayor Valerie Mitchell said she is saddened by the news, but she remains hopeful good things will come to her community soon.
Former Governor Rod Blagojevich announced the move last summer as a way to save money on the division's Springfield lease and help the economy in Harrisburg.
Phelps says the move was certainly tarnished by Blagojevich's impeachment.
