Carbondale, IL – The American Red Cross is hosting blood drives this week, and encouraging donors to come out and give. You can stop by Thompsonville High School from 9:00am-2:00pm, Heartland Regional Hospital in Marion from 9:00am-5:00pm, or Christopher High School from 8:30am-1:30pm. The Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois, Shawnee Green Party and Students for Peace and Democracy are hosting two events this week. The first is a candlelight vigil to mark the 6th Anniversary of the War in Iraq, and it is from 7:00pm-8:00pm Thursday at the Interfaith Center in Carbondale. The groups will also host a vigil, rally and march to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan this Saturday from Noon-1:30pm. For more information, call (618)521-4239.
