Carbondale, IL – Southern Illinois University president Glenn Poshard says Governor Pat Quinn's budget proposal is bold, and he hopes it holds.
Poshard says he's already talked with many lawmakers about holding higher education harmless in the next budget and he says the lawmakers are so far doing what they can.
Poshard says he and other administrators are starting the planning for tuition and fee increases for the coming year, but admits that's a difficult task without knowing what the state will provide.
He says he's hopeful the budget proposal will pass, but admits there's heavy opposition from labor and business groups.
