Marion, IL – During a visit to Southern Illinois today, Governor Pat Quinn reiterated his call for lawmakers to approve a capital bill sooner than later.
Quinn says he wants to start on at least part of the 26-billion dollar proposal by April 3rd.
He says he will sit down tomorrow with House Speaker Mike Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton to talk about the importance of getting the construction plan started quickly.
Quinn says he plans to be as transparent as possible with the capital plan so all Illinois residents can keep track of what projects are getting funded.
The proposal includes money to finish Morris Library and fund the construction of the Transportation Education Center at SIUC.
