Springfield, IL – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources hopes to prove there's been an "attitude adjustment."
Marc Miller, director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, decries the Blagojevich Administration's habit of sweeping special funds for general use. Miller says one of his top concerns is assuring all the people who hunt, fish, visit state parks, and are otherwise connected to the agency, that D-N-R will keep the extra fee money and pump it back into staff and services.
Miller says he's going to spend this year proving to outdoorsmen that the agency will be honest about how it spends money.
Miller wants the agency to enact new fees, and raise some existing fees, with the extra $20 million going to programs and new staff. Miller points out that the agency has about 1,300 workers, which is about half of what the number was at its highest.
