Springfield, IL – Governor Pat Quinn says he wants to know whether the Illinois Department of Transportation was the only agency to hand out raises just before former Governor Rod Blagojevich was booted from office.
A dozen high-level IDOT employees got raises in January for no clear reason. They were in addition to regular cost-of-living increases.
The Associated Press found the raises averaged six thousand dollars a year and one was nearly 10-thousand. Governor Quinn said today his staff is looking into how and why the raises were approved.
Quinn also says he'll look into whether any other agencies approved similar increases which he called ``midnight raises.''
