Chicago, IL – The price of gasoline in Illinois is up slightly...
The Triple-A Chicago Motor Club puts the statewide average for March at $2.01, up nine cents from February. Triple-A spokesman Nicole Niemi says gasoline prices are not expected to be exorbitant this year. A year ago a gallon of unleaded sold for nearly $4.00.
Niemi says gasoline prices will rise a little more in the coming months, as vacation driving increases and metropolitan areas switch to the summer fuel blends.
Regular unleaded gasoline in the Carbondale area is selling anywhere from $1.94 to $2.09 per gallon.
