Marion, IL – Despite a down economy, one local not-for-profit organization achieved success in its fundraising this year.
The American Cancer Society's Southern Illinois Chapter had a one-point-four-million dollar goal for the fiscal year which ended August 31... and the organization's Fran Miley says they exceeded that.
Miley says the community came through to help... and worked hard right up to the end to reach their goal.
Money was raised through the A-C-S's Relay For Life, which is an all-night event celebrating survivors and remembering those who lost their battle with cancer.
Dozens of Relays were held throughout the region this spring and early summer.
