Chicago, IL – A candidate for Illinois comptroller is promising to give taxpayers more information about how their money is spent.
Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi said Wednesday he wants to create a searchable library of state contracts.
Taxpayers would be able to search all contracts for specific businesses or types of spending. Krishnamoorthi says people could even get e-mail alerts on contract issues they're following.
He says other states with similar programs have been able to cut costs by finding contract mistakes and duplication.
Krishnamoorthi faces Representative David Miller in the democratic primary for state comptroller.
