Jackson Co Flu Vaccine in Short Supply

By Jenna Morton

Carbondale, IL – The Jackson County Health Department is postponing its public flu shot clinics schedule for next week due to the temporary shortage of the adult seasonal flu vaccine.

The health department received approximately one-third of its vaccine but has not received additional supplies yet. The department's Director of Health Education Angie Bailey says she is positive they are getting in a shipment soon.

Bailey says the supply ran short because there has been more publicity this year about the need to get the flu vaccine so there have been more people coming out, plus their supplier has been behind.

To keep updated when the vaccine shipment comes in you can call the Health Department or go to their website.

Because of the delayed shipment, SIU-C has postponed its flu shot clinic scheduled for September 22nd and rescheduled it for October 13th. The clinic at the Student Recreation Center Alumni Lounge is still scheduled for September 30th.
