By Jennifer Fuller & Brad Palmer

Colp, IL – A Herrin teenager is charged with a felony in an alleged hit-and-run accident that killed a young woman in her southern Illinois hometown.

Seventeen-year-old Larry Sanders is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

He's accused in the wreck that killed 18-year-old pedestrian Teneva Archie of Colp on Sunday night. She died at the scene.

Herrin police say Sanders initially left the scene of the accident but later turned himself over to police.

He originally was charged with failing to report an accident or death.

Sanders has a preliminary hearing set for October 19th.
