SIUC to Host Fundraiser for Haiti

By Brad Highland

Carbondale, IL – Three journalists from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting are coming to SIUC to discuss their experiences in Haiti, dealing with the aftermath of last year's magnitude 7 quake.

"Haiti After the Quake" is part of a weeklong fundraising effort put on by the School of Journalism.

Associate professor Uche Onyebadi says the symposium will be a great opportunity for students from the school of Mass Communications as the journalists discuss crisis reporting.

Discussions will get underway at 7:00 P.M. Thursday in Student Center Ballroom D. The event is free and open to the public.

Any and all funds raised will go towards creating a resource center in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, for students to get help after school.
