One of the harder hit areas from Sunday night's tornadoes in the region was in the Randolph County unincorporated community of Bremen.
The Randolph County Highway District office there was a total loss from the reported EF-1 twister.
"I don't know what speeds there were with the tornado. I was out, actually clearing roads, trying to get to the facility to go out," said highway commissioner Matt Young.
Young says fortunately none of the equipment was damaged, but there will be some major adjustments in the near future to keep the department running to take care of the county's roads.
"Right now, I'm going to move my office to another road department and operate out of there. We're looking into bringing in a mobile office, for now, for my (six) employees to show up to work."
Young says it could be up to a year before the damaged building can be torn down and a new structure built in its place.
Mike Anderson is a homeowner near the highway district office. He had a group of friends cutting up two large trees downed by the twister.
He says he believes divine intervention prevented his home from being damaged.
"He watched over it and just laid these two trees down just perfect. I was in the house, in the back bedroom at the time. You could hear the roar. It was something else. Scary, real scary. Thank God, nobody got hurt. I have a basement, but, I didn't do what I was supposed to do. I had the windows open so I could hear it coming, so I could run there. It came up too fast."
No injuries are being reported in Randolph County from what the National Weather Service reports was an EF-1 tornado.
Just across the Mississippi River in St. Mary, Missouri, extensive damage was reported to homes and the Antique Mall.
The National Weather Service is reporting some of the damage in Fredericktown, Missouri is consistent with an EF-3 twister.
