Local Branch of the N-A-A-C-P responds to Rittenhouse not guilty verdict

A local civil rights group is expressing their reaction to the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal.

In a statement from the Carbondale Branch of the NAACP, President Linda Flowers says the group is disappointed with the verdict handed down by a Wisconsin jury in which they found Rittenhouse not guilty of murder.

The statement goes on to say it is very important to see more unbiased judges and more diverse jurors in trials. Flowers says they believe if the shooter had been a person of color the outcome would have been different.

The Carbondale Branch of the NAACP adds they are nevertheless committed in getting rid of, what they say is white supremacy and privilege in the nation's justice system.
