A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by Carbondale Police after a traffic violation led to a weapons charge.

Around 2:30 Saturday morning, officers stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of East Walnut Street.

During the investigation, they arrested a 16 year old male for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with No Valid Driver’s License.

With the assistance of the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence frequented by the teenager and collected additional evidence.

The teen was transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
