A program funded by the Federal Communications Commission that helps families afford internet service, is benefitting parts of southern Illinois. Vienna Schools Superintendent Joshua Stafford says the program helps students in his district to keep up with classwork.
"It really helps address closing the homework gap in a lot of ways. By providing discounted internet service to those eligible families and making things more equitable, across the board for all students."Joshua Stafford
The Affordable Connectivity Program provides up to 30 dollars a month for internet service for households that meet certain guidelines, and for more information call 877-384-2575.
Stafford says he would also be glad to work with families in applying for the grant, by calling the Vienna High School at 618-658-4461.
