The American Red Cross says it expects demand for blood to increase as more people hit the road this summer. Joe Zydlo, with the Red Cross says the reason why blood drives are always so urgent, is because of the amount of people every day who need blood.

"Instead of saying 'where you're always saying it's a critical need, or this and that'. The thing people need to remember is that every two seconds someone in this country needs blood. So that tells you right then and there how critical that need is, that, that need is constant."

Zydlo encourages eligible donors to go online and schedule their appointment by visiting: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive

or by calling 1-800-733-2767.
