Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick is warning the public of a “Fake” article being circulated on the internet and social media platforms.

The story claims a female was working as a Morgue Assistant in Williamson County and lives in Carterville.

It claims that the female was taking body parts from deceased men for a spaghetti cooking competition in Carterville.

The fake story was on a fake news website ktva4.com

The headline of this fake news website says “News you can count on to let you down.”

Sheriff Vick says the about section of KTVA4.com states clearly it is a fabricated satirical news and comedy website.

A quick guide to identifying fake news:

Check The Source. (the Contact page or about page)

Take a look at the website URL. (did it come from a respectable source)

Are other news sites reporting on the story?

Be wary of sloppy writing.

And quotes – or lack thereof.
