A southeast Missouri bus driver has died after the bus he was driving collided with another vehicle early Tuesday morning in Perry County Missouri.
Perry County School District 32 reports 72-year-old James Kennedy was the bus driver who died in the accident. He was the uncle of Superintendent Andy Comstock.
There were no students on the bus when the accident occurred.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the bus driven by Kennedy was southbound on Highway K at 6:02 a.m. when the bus failed to negotiate a curve in the road, overcorrected, and struck the front of a box truck that was northbound on Highway K. The bus traveled off the left side of the road and struck a culvert.
The Highway Patrol reports Kennedy was not wearing a safety harness. The driver of the box truck was not injured.
