World Cup: Round of 16 preview

SCOTT DETROW, HOST:

The Women's World Cup soccer tournament began its knockout stage today. Spain eliminated Switzerland with a decisive 5-1 victory. And in a matchup of two one-time champions, Japan beat Norway 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. Tonight, the Netherlands is taking on South Africa as the Round of 16 continues. And tomorrow morning at 5 a.m. Eastern, the United States faces off against Sweden. It's win-or-go-home time for a U.S. team that has struggled more than usual at this surprise-filled tournament. A win against the Swedes, though, could turn things around nicely. We will have the latest on the American quest for an unprecedented World Cup three-peat right here on the show tomorrow.
