Inside The Blanket Fort - Episode 169 (4/4/24)

Journey back Inside The Blanket Fort as we explore the offerings from SIU Press in celebration of National Poetry Month featuring the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry.

Releasing shortly on April 22nd, Sara Henning’s Burn draws readers deep into the moments that make us, focusing on instances of crisis and renewal to explore our relation to time and lived experience.

Coming on April 30th is Cynthia Huntington’s Civil Twilight. Civil twilight is the astronomical term for the minutes just before sunrise and just after sunset. The poems in Civil Twilight arise in this liminal space.

Published in 2021, Derek N. Otsuji’s The Kitchen of Small Hours embraces the fragility and endurance of a family of immigrants from two regions in Japan.

In Tory Adkisson’s The Flesh Between Us, also published in 2021, the speaker explores our connections to each other, whether they be lovely or painful, static or constantly shifting, or, above all, unavoidable and necessary.
