Carbondale Police Search For Suspect in Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian

Police search for the suspect of the fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, May 31st at East Walnut and South Wall streets in Carbondale.

The suspect vehicle was located, on fire, in the 1300 block of East Pleasant Hill Road on the afternoon of June 1st.

Jeremy L. Shered, age 36 of Carbondale, was identified as the driver of the vehicle when it struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

Probable cause exists for Shered’s arrest and law enforcement is currently searching for him. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Shered is asked to contact the Carbondale Police Department.

The pedestrian who lost his life in this crash was identified as Michael D. Welling, age 68 of Carbondale.
