Journey back Inside The Blanket Fort as we continue our conversation with author Charles Cosgrove on his new release from SIU Press, They Both Reached for the Gun: Beulah Annan, Maurine Watkins, and the Trial That Became Chicago.
This book tells the story of Beulah Annan, who was arrested and tried for the murder of her lover, Harry Kalsted, in 1924, and of Maurine Watkins, the reporter who wrote the play Chicago based on the trial. In our last episode, we learned that Dr. Cosgrove spoke with some of Beulah Annan’s living relatives in the process of conducting research for the book.
