This week, students from John A. Logan's Construction Management program have been working on the new Fuller Dome Interpretive Center. The focus is on installing wood plates, trusses, and 3D panels.
According to Board Vice President Elizabeth Donoghue, the Interpretive Center has been in construction for the past five months and is close to being complete.
"We need a place to welcome people, have events, and become an educational center. To see it come to fruition has been an amazing thing."
The Interpretive Center aims to reflect the vision of Buckminster Fuller, a former professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Fuller is well known for his dome-shaped building designs worldwide.
