There has been a shake-up in the coaching staff of the Shawnee Community College softball program.
A news release from the school said the softball coaching staff has been let go.
The news release went on to say the decision resulted from an investigation which substantiated claims made by community members, student-athletes, and parents about how the staff interacted with the student-athletes. The college felt the behavior did not reflect the institution's stated values, which is to place the well-being of its students as one of the highest priorities.
Shawnee College President Tim Taylor was quoted in the release saying “two of our guiding principles at Shawnee Community College are that the students are our focus and ethical decisions guide our actions."
No other information has been released.
The search is underway for a new head coach of the Saints' softball program.
