The Illinois High School Association proudly announces that Girl's Flag Football will be the newest sport added to an IHSA State Series. The Board of Directors approved the extracurricular activity's addition during their February 5, 2024 meeting.

IHSA's Assistant Executive Director Tracy Henry says that much work went into planning this year's Girl's Flag Football State Tournament.

"113 of the 816 schools said they would look at participating in our year to have the state championship in 2024. Once we met that threshold
of participation, it was something our board took a look at for the membership."

Anticipated entries of Girls Flag Football for the 2025 school year include Meridian High School, while entries for 2026 include Carmi-White County, Elverado, Marion, Nashville, Salem, Shawnee, and Sparta High Schools.
