Poke Sallet Sally Dinner Theater
Join us for a playful performance event that includes dinner while unpacking the story about the pokeweed plant. In Poke Sallet Sally, actor, playwright and chef Jerri X dispells myths about this native plant (Phytolacca americana) through stories that show how people used pokeweed for medicine and nourishment. The event is co-presented by St Louis-based Lynn Peemoeller, a food systems planner, researcher and teacher. Lynn’s practice blends food, identity, place, and policy in participatory, community-centred ways. This is a free event, with a limit of 50 guests. Reservations are required.

Red, White and Blue in the Loo
After nearly a year of planning, we’re excited to announce something brand new coming to Waterloo — created for our community and built to draw in neighbors from Southern Illinois through the Greater St. Louis region —
This two-day, high-energy, family-focused celebration is designed to become a lasting tradition. It features live music, fireworks both nights, local vendors, food trucks, fun zones, and an atmosphere that brings together people from across the region.
But what makes this event even more powerful is its purpose.
We’re Giving Back to Two Incredible Causes:
-Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois – Serving survivors in Monroe, St. Clair, and Randolph counties with shelter, advocacy, trauma support, and a growing presence in our Monroe County courthouse every day now. -JB Patriot Pantry – Providing food and essentials for veterans and active military from both Missouri and Illinois, with a community-wide food drive to come.
