Fort de Chartres Market Fair

Fort de Chartres Market Fair

Imagine the village of Fort de Chartres, in ‘Le Pays du Illinois’ (The Land of Illinois) 1750 - 1790, a bustling community of shops and craftspeople, friends, and family. Stroll down the main street and surrounding area and visit merchants and blanket traders selling their wares. Check out the shooting competition, run members of the American Long Rifle Association. Stop in and see itinerant painter, Lon Brauer, working in his atelier (studio), and watch the stickball game inside the fort walls on Saturday afternoon. Visit the bread oven, and see what's cooking in the camp kitchen.
