Learning in Retirement: "Dr. Brent Pease to Speak About Citizen Science"
Dr. Brent Pease, Assistant Professor in the SIU Forestry Program, will be the featured speaker at the November 20 meeting of Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR). Brent runs the Sounds of Nature project, a citizen science project aimed at understanding changes in biodiversity over time by studying landscapes. Citizen science involves the collection and analysis of the natural world data by the general public. Brent has used citizen science to listen in on nature before, during, and after the recent solar eclipse.
The meeting, free and open to the public, will be begin at 10:30 am at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua, Carbondale. A coffee hour precedes the presentation and begins at 9:30 am.
