Learning in Retirement: "Dulcimer Performance to be Featured at SILIR Meeting
Kentucky musician, Molly McCormack, will perform songs on the mountain dulcimer at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) meeting on Wednesday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. She will provide a brief history of the mountain dulcimer and perform traditional and original folk tunes. Members of the Makanda Dulcimer Friends will join her in some tunes and share information about their group.
A singer as well as an instrumentalist, Molly McCormack has been playing the dulcimer for over thirty years. Her repertoire includes traditional folk music, jazz, blues and original tunes. Molly teaches and performs at festivals around the country.
The presentation, free and open to the public, will be at Epiphany Lutheran Church at 1501 W Chautauqua St. in Carbondale. A coffee and social hour begins at 9:30.
