Learning in Retirement: "Judge Solverson Will Discuss SAFE-T Act at Learning in Retirement Meeting, February 21

Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) will have Judge Christy Solverson as the presenter at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 21, at 10:30 am.
Judge Solverson will explain the Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity–Today (SAFE-T) Act, which became effective in 2023. She will report on its implementation to date in Jackson County. This new act is historic as Illinois is the first state to explicitly prohibit the use of money in pretrial detention decisions.
Judge Christy Solverson is the presiding judge of Jackson County. If the court schedule permits, she will be joined by Judge Ralph Bloodworth, Chief Criminal Judge of the County.
The presentation, free and open to the public, will be at Grace United Methodist Church, 220 N. Tower Road in Carbondale. A coffee and social hour begins at 9:30 am. For more information, call Diane McIntyre at 618-536-7751, email silir@siu.edu or visit the SILIR web page at conferenceservices@siu.edu.
