John E. Sims will provide reflections on 9/11 at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement meeting Wednesday, September 20 at 10:30 a.m.

John E. Sims has been an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church for 50 years, retiring in 2012 from First United Methodist Church in Urbana. He is a certified Disaster Chaplain with the National Transportation Safety Board and was at 9/11 for three weeks after the disaster. He is an endorsed Police Chaplain and Fire Chaplain, having worked with the Edwardsville Police Department and the Champaign Fire Department. He has also taught Ethics in the Police Training Institute at the University of Illinois.
