Learning in Retirement: "Tai Chi for Older Adults"

Barb Shiplett will discuss Tai chi and wellness at the February Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) meeting. She will include information about Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention, an internationally recognized exercise program designed specifically for older adults. The program is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Arthritis Foundation.

Barb Shiplett is a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults. She earned the MS degree in Physical Therapy from Washington University School of Medicine and the PhD in Community Health Education from SIU. She has had more than 25 years of experience as a physical therapist and has taught physical therapy as well as community health education.

The presentation, free and open to the public, will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 220 N. Tower Road in Carbondale at 10:30 a.m. A coffee and social hour begins at 9:30.
