Experience the art of making maple syrup. Participants will learn about the history of maple sugaring in North America, the science behind the production, and experience first-hand the actual process of making maple syrup.
Throughout the day, students will learn how to identify and select the correct tree, how to “tap” a sugar maple, how to collect and store sap, and how to convert sap into syrup.
This is a "hands-on" experience. Please dress up for the weather and be prepared to be outside for this program. All ages are welcome but anyone under the age of 18 must be directly accompanied by an adult.
Demonstrations will take place in Camp 2 at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center. Two demos will be held from 1-4 PM on January 21st and on February 18th.
The program costs $30 for adults and $15 for children, and is limited to 50 people per day.
Registration for the first workshop is due Feb. 9th. Register Online
