SIU Celebrates Black History Month 2023

Black History Month kicks off with keynote Damon Williams, a scholar, educator, author and leadership expert. He will be joined by SIU Alumnus and musician Lee England Jr. also known as the Michael Jordan of violin.

Some of the highlighted events are a conversation with Ida Nelson and the Jett Hawkins law that prevents discrimination against hairstyles in schools. The movie “The Woman King” will play at the Student Center Auditorium.

Most of the events are free and open to the public, but some require registration before the event.
