Nominations open for SIU’s Sturgis Public Service Award

Nominations for the Lindell W. Sturgis Memorial Public Service Award, which honors Southern Illinois University Carbondale employees for their community work away from campus, are being accepted.

Established in 1979, the award is presented by the SIU Board of Trustees to an SIU Carbondale employee to recognize public service efforts and “contributions to the community, area, state or nation,” based upon activities unrelated to the employee’s job responsibilities. This prestigious award includes a cash gift of $750 and a plaque.

Online nomination forms are available at the Lindell Sturgis website. Nominations must be received by Feb. 24. For more information, call 618-453-7424.
