Buck-a-Book sales at the Carbondale Farmers Market raised money for Women for Change in collaboration with Confluence Books. Five weekends of Buck-a-Book sales taking place every Saturday raised a total of around 560 dollars.
Confluence Books owner Sarah Heyer presented the pitcher of dollars to members of Women for Change at their Sewing Center at the Eurma Hayes Center.
Women for Change started on the Northeast side of Carbondale with a group of women gathering to make change in their community. They partnered with Confluence Books, which sells used books donated by the public, to raise money.
September Buck-a-Book sales will turn into Dollars-for-Dictionaries, which aims to put a dictionary in the hands of every 3rd-grade student in the school district.
