A southern Illinois company is hoping to ease supply chain issues with the opening of a new warehouse in Washington County.
NOTS Logistics CEO Andy Kirchner says the new, 216,000 square foot warehouse with more than a dozen dock doors and ramps. The Class 1 facility will allow companies to have a stock of inventory that's ready to ship at any time.
"We see an inherent need for strategic locations that are outside of major metropolitan areas, or the absence of Class 1 warehouse space located in areas that can serve a larger portion of consumers."
The warehouse is the latest addition to the NOTS Logistics complex in Nashville, IL.
Kirchner says plans were just getting started for the facility as COVID-19 began shutting things down last year. He says the new facility will allow companies to store and ship inventory more efficiently, even when something causes a disruption.
"Whether it's weather-related, like the Texas incident earlier this year when the supply chain was disrupted because of extreme temperatures that way, floods, earthquakes, tornadic activity, natural disasters, man-made things, roads going out, or complete disruptions in supply chains due to medical challenges that we've mostly been faced with with COVID."
He says delivery and supply issues over the last year show just how important transportation and supply chain infrastructure can be - and he's glad his company can help bolster it.
NOTS Logistics will celebrate its 40th anniversary next month.
