Signup underway for SIU's free Summer Tutoring Camp for grades 3-8

Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers a free Summer Tutoring Camp through the School of Education.

Southern Illinois University offers a free Summer Tutoring Camp through the School of Education. The camp works with students from nearby school districts in grades third to eighth.

Students from the following Illinois Tutoring Initiative partner districts are eligible for the camp: Carbondale School District 95, Cobden School District 17, Giant City School District 130, Herrin School District 4, Meridian School District 101, Murphysboro School District 186, and Unity Point School District 140.

The camp runs from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Wham Education Building. The summer learning experience focuses on high-impact math and reading presented in a fun, interactive format, taught by SIU graduate students and current and retired teachers.

With an emphasis on math and reading, there will also be interactive games, crafts, storytelling, snacks, and outdoor games assuring campers have an enjoyable experience.

To register, contact the partner school your child attends before May 31.
