A natural healthcare expo is set for next month in Carbondale.
The topic is on managing diabetes.
Dayempur Herbals General Manager Terry Hickey says there are natural ways to treat diabetes. She encourages people not to use insulin as the fix for everything.
"Of course there are insulin-dependent diabetics and it's really critical that they use insulin. But, we want to try to help people shift the paradigm and instead of eating whatever they want and then using insulin to control it, why don't we eat well and really control it through our diet and use insulin as a supplement in that regard."
Hickey a CDC report estimates as many as one in ten Americans live with diabetes or pre-diabetes.
A classical homeopath and fitness nutrition expert will be the guest speakers at the event on April 9th at the Dayemi Community Center.
