A southern Illinois man received a long prison sentence after a Union County jury convicted him on two counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.
The State's Attorney's office 37-year-old Curtis Edward Carr of Mulkeytown has been sentenced to 50 years behind bars. He must serve 85 percent of the sentence or 42 ½ years. Carr will also have to register as a sex offender for life.

In July 2013, Carr sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in a vehicle parked at a residence in rural Jonesboro.

Carr was a friend of the young child's family. Evidence presented at trial also showed that Carr later sexually assaulted another young girl in the State of Maryland after developing a relationship with her family. Carr also engaged in online grooming of another young girl in the State of Ohio.
