A Carbondale man has been sentenced for a 2017 murder.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 26-year-old Jarrell Pullen received a 72-year prison term for the killing of 19-year-old Javon Trott of Carbondale.
Pullen was found guilty of First-Degree Murder and fourcounts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, following a three-day bench trial in Jackson County in May 2019 .

Eyewitness testimony and evidence located at the crime scene led to Pullen's arrest and subsequent indictment. Police found Trott lying in the parking lot of the Eurma Hayes Center with numerous gunshot wounds. He died at a local hospital in 2017.

Pullen was recently sentenced to serve 35 years on the charge of First-Degree Murder. Because a firearm was used which caused the death of the victim, an additional mandatory 25 year consecutive sentence was imposed.

This sentence must be served at 100%.

He was also sentenced to an additional 12years of consecutive time for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
