Plane crash injures pilot, cuts power in Jackson County

Sunday Update:
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a small plane crash near New Era Road Saturday night.

Carbondale Police say the plane clipped power lines near the Southern Illinois Regional Airport, leaving thousands of customers without power for several hours. Ameren crews were able to restore power later in the evening.

The pilot sustained what police say were non-life threatening injuries, and treated and SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
