A Carbondale man has been found guilty of breaking into a rural Jackson County residence in 2021 and attacking the homeowner.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney reports 30-year-old Kyle Locklear was found Guilty of two Counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault of a Person Over the Age of 60; two counts of Home Invasion; and one count each of Residential Burglary and Aggravated Unlawful Restraint.

Jackson County Deputies responded to the residence in the late morning on May 1, 2021.

They learned Locklear had entered through a back window of the rural residence while the homeowner was there.

After the night long attack, he left with her phone and purse. The survivor was able to make her way to a landline and call for help.

Locklear was arrested the next day.
