A suspect has been identified in a hit and run traffic crash involving a pedestrian last week in Carbondale.

On September 26th at 7:30 p.m., Carbondale police officers responded to the 400 block of East Walnut Street.

Detectives continued to follow up on the investigation and with the assistance of the Jackson County States Attorney’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Dewone Miller of Marion.

Miller is charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Involving Personal Injury and Aggravated Battery.

Anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of Miller is encouraged to contact the police department at 618-457-3200.

The Carbondale P-D also continues to search for the vehicle involved in the accident. The vehicle is a grey 2010 Nissan Rogue with Illinois registration K60 0864.

The victim is still in a local hospital in stable condition.
