Detectives continue to investigate the incident from Saturday, in which a suspect displayed a weapon in the 700 block of North Giant City Road and fled from officers in a white sedan.

They identified the suspect as 30-year-old Nekuma Johnson of Cairo. He remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

With the assistance of the Jackson County State’s Attorney, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson, charging him with Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, and Reckless Driving.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Johnson is asked to call the Carbondale Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-COPS.
